12-Day Malaysia Travel Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Kuala Lumpur City Exploration

Essential Travel Tips for Foreign Visitors

• Transport: Buy a Touch n Go card for convenient travel by bus and train in Peninsular Malaysia; use Grab for ridesharing in cities. For long-distance travel, trains and domestic flights are recommended for comfort and efficiency. Note that Malaysia drives on the right-hand side, and you must have a local driver’s license to drive, as Chinese driver’s licenses are not directly valid).

• Language: Malay is the official language, but English is widely spoken in tourist areas, hotels, and restaurants. Signs are mostly in Malay and English, so communication is convenient.

• Currency: The local currency is Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). Credit cards are widely accepted in shopping malls, restaurants, and hotels; ATMs are easily accessible for cash withdrawal. Some places also accept Alipay or WeChat Pay.

• Weather: Malaysia has a tropical rainforest climate, with temperatures ranging from 25–32°C all year round. There are frequent rain showers, so it is recommended to bring an umbrella and sunscreen. Indoor air conditioning is usually very cold, so a thin coat is recommended.
